Deals are getting done. Investment money is searching for good deals. Positioning your company at the outset to be acquired is both a sensible and well-regarded business model attractive to investors. The start-up and management team is tied to the deal and they need to prepare personally and financially for this as well. Will Wilcoxson, Partner, Axiom Venture Partners, www.axiomventures.com Mr. Wilcoxson has fourteen years of venture capital and private equity investment experience. Prior to joining Axiom, Mr. Wilcoxson was a General Partner of Claflin Capital Management in Boston where he specialized in early-stage information technology companies. He Mr. Wilcoxson spent three years with GE Capital�s Corporate Finance Group, where he focused on later-stage private equity investments in manufacturing, retail and communications companies, and began his venture capital career with Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation. Nicholas P. Economou, Executive Chairman, ALIS, www.aliscorporation.com Dr. Economou formerly served as chief executive officer of Confluent Photonics Corporation, a supplier of optical transport systems for the CATV and telecommunications industries. Earlier, Dr. Economou was chairman, president and CEO of Micrion Corporation where he served as CEO for ten years, seeing the company through a turnaround in 1990, its initial public offering in 1994, and a second public financing in 1994. During 1998-1999, he successfully completed merger negotiations with FEI/Philips, culminating in the acquisition of the company in August of 1999. Previously, he had served at MIT Lincoln Laboratory and at Bell Laboratories. Dr. Economou holds a B.A. degree in physics from Dartmouth College, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from Harvard University.
Christopher P.
