Jerry Bird, VP - MTDC www.MTDC.com

MTDC is an early-stage VC firm for Massachusetts technology start-ups. Since 1980 it has invested over $60 million in over 114 companies. Investments are typically in the $250K-$500K range.

Jerry Bird has over 19 years of investing and financial experience. Prior to joining MTDC he was President of Claflin Capital Management and a partner at Brook Venture Partners and Nova MedVentures. He was on the boards of e-Travel which was sold to Oracle, Andover.net which went public in 1999 and then merged with VA Linux, LinkSoft Technologies which was purchased by Quadramed, Nexcen Technologies which was purchased by UCMS, and Bitpipe which was recently purchased by TechTarget. He received an MBA degree from the Tuck School at Dartmouth.

Joe Caruso is a principal in Walnut Ventures, a member of Common Angels, and a Managing Partner of Brookwood Partners – all angel investments groups for early stage companies. He has served as mentor, coach, and personal advisor for CEO’s and entrepreneurs for the last 17 years at Bantam Group. He was CEO at Cyborg Corporation and has served as interim CEO for companies in need of strategic change. He has been a Director and active investor in Boston MicroMachines, Metrisa, MicroE Systems, and TimeBlaster. He has an MBA degree from Harvard University.

Catalyst is an early-stage VC firm for health care, life sciences, and technology ventures.

David Hendren co-founded Catalyst in 1999 and focuses on healthcare investments. He has led investments in EndoVia Medical, Seedling Enterprises, GI Dynamics, and LumeRx. He also serves on the Board of the Slater Center for Biomedical Technology. Prior to co-founding Catalyst, Hendren was a corporate lawyer, most recently as a partner of Peabody & Arnold, where his clients included start-ups involved with health care and technology. He received a law degree from Northwestern University.
