XCube Communications

Our Product /Service

Our StreamX product is an EMC, Google, Hadoop system on steroids for streaming data.

It creates a toolset for acquiring, storing, finding, mining, and effectively using Big Smart data. Our product can be seen as private cloud storage system with a customizable search engine and massively parallel execution engine. – We let our users create knowledge from their data and then use that to run analysis based the search results.

Our Market and there is a real race out there

Initial market is safety critical autonomous vehicles especially automotive and UAV. The active safety and autonomous vehicle market is exploding, but there are no good tools to help the companies effectively develop, test and certify their systems. There are about 200 new car models on the US market alone each need testing and certification. Our system will significantly reduce their 4-6 year development cycle and we can become the standard for certification.

Second market is the emerging large data analytics. Our system is the perfect tool for analyzing data that is not textual and which meaning need to be computed. Examples of those markets are pipeline inspection, city surveillance, coastal and border defense and more. Estimates of the BIG DATA market is in the $25B annual, we address a GREEN SPACE working with streaming measurement and video data.

Our Needs

We are looking for angel or venture investment of $500K to $1M to ramp up sales and solidify our leadership position in the automotive market as well as to develop the commercial and defense big data opportunities.  The funds will be used to build the sales force, develop marketing and add full time QA to engineering.  We will grow the business form current $3M to $40 within 3 years and become the market leader in our field.

Feedback We seek from the panelists of the day

We would like help with clarifying the product and markets to allow for a condensed explanation. Our market and product is hard to condense to a few sentences.

Ideas on fundraising and valuation of the company would be appreciated. We have an international business and a distributed team. Should we separate the offerings?

Patient Audit

Product /Service
Patient Audit is an easy to use mobile application for patients and their families as it can be used in a variety of languages. Our solution is accessed through a hospital bedside device or a patient's own handheld device. Patients can choose to report their concerns in a non-english format and the outcome data will be converted back into English for reporting. The patient can interact by selecting icon symbols, as well as in their own words in an open text field. This platform will provide qualitative, real-time patient specific information to Healthcare organizations who can take remedial action while the patient is still hospitalized. This information can be routed to the appropriate healthcare responder. For example, a hospital’s food department can respond to nutritional requests, while nurses can respond to issues associated with pain management so that patients can get what they need quickly.

Our Market
There are a total of 5,724 registered hospitals in the U.S with 924,333 staffed beds serving 36.5 million patients. The patient population admitted into the hospital will steadily increase as the baby boomers retire.

Apposk

Product /Service
Apposk is a company led by Joe Aleman that provides mobile application developers the ability to advertise their applications on a kiosk. Currently, it is a challenge to launch a mobile device application because it is easy to get lost in the 1,000,000 applications that are currently available. Apposk aims to solve that problem as we are providing advertising space at our kiosks for $50 per month at highly trafficked locations.

Our Market
Each mobile application will get a space on our board in which their logo will be displayed and cards will be available that have information about each app. The tablet that is available on our kiosk will provide more detailed information and will have demos so that consumers can try before they buy. The market is pretty much any app developer or company that would otherwise use the Android marketplace or the Apple app store!

Our Needs
We are seeking $500,000 in funding so that we can be successful in implementing these kiosks in many locations through the USA.

Vladimir Gorelik

Neuronix

273 Riverside Ave. Apt 1

Medford, MA 02155

Cell: (912) 596 3496

v.gorelik@neuronix.net

Neuronix’s founder has patented a robotics-related technology and developed a proof of concept prototype of optically Self-converging Saccade-capable Binocular Vision System - Sc2BVS. Vision is the primary sensory modality for service robots, self-driving vehicles and many other horizontal autonomous and semi-autonomous applications. However, high cost and low performance of available approaches to vision is one of the major limiting factors to the broad acceptance of service robots. Similar to human vision, both cameras of Sc2BVS remain optically converged on an object of interest regardless of the object's and camera's motions. Dynamic self-convergence drastically reduces image noise while simultaneously providing ranging information and eliminates the need for expensive processing and dedicated LIDAR-based sensors. This leads to the lowering the system cost and improving performance of 3D imaging while simplifying collision avoidance, path planning and dexterous manipulation.

Vladimir Gorelik is the founder of Neuronix who is developing the technology on his personal resources and time.

Neuronix is in the business of:

- Supplying/licensing the Sc2BVS-based vision sub-systems to various horizontal markets encompassing robotic OEMs and system integrators,

- Providing the tool to the universities and industrial/government lab researchers in the fields of neurophysiology of vision and robotic autonomy and

- Providing a low-cost version of Sc2BVS to robotic enthusiasts and hobbyists.

Neuronix is looking for: a) business co-founder with domain expertise in the field of robotics, automation and/or mechatronics product development and b) seed level funding to complete the Beta level prototype within 12 months.

Sunrise Method

Technology: Patented search method for unknown, non-digital Chinese characters.
This method allows anyone with no knowledge of Chinese to find a character,  learn it's meaning, pronunciation, stroke order and constituent parts as well as learn related characters with similar components or other aspects by being able to identify any combination of its strokes or radicals.

App Idea:  12 games of various skill levels and aspects of Chinese character recognition and usage.

The App will have a "waterfall" pricing structure, that is, all games have:

  • a free ad-supported version with ads on the top banner and between games/rounds, but 1-player only
  • $0.99 removes banner ads (shows ads between games), but 1-player only
  • $1.99 removes all ads and allows 2-player mode, but only local high scores
  • $2.99/mo subscription allows multi-player mode, city/country/world high scores, tournaments, etc.

Market:  All learners of Chinese characters:

  • native Chinese speakers (ages 4-12) still acquiring characters
  • non-native learners (ages 4-18) whose parents want to give them a head-start
  • non-native learners (ages 21-30) who want to teach English in China/Taiwan/HK/Singapore
  • non-native learners (ages 25-55) who want to do business in China/Taiwan/HK/Singapore

Biz Model:  Revenue will be generated from various sources:

  • ads on the free versions
  • $0.99 and $1.99 from most users
  • $2.99/mo from the dedicated users
  • most of the revenue will come from a technology that converts points earned from the games into cash that is deposited into students' college fund (grad school fund) and a small percent is kept for us

We need:  funds or talent to develop following:

  • iOS, Android, Facebook and browser-based versions
  • development of more games (and languages) within the app
  • improved UX / UI\enter more markets via existing schools and education/search product offerings\education curriculum to prove new learning method
  • marketing to show how our search method is quicker/easier than writing or OCR

Budget:  May cost $100,000 - 200,000

Exit strategy: Sell or license to Google, Apple, Rosetta Stone, other search/game/education players like Zynga.

LOW COST PORTABLE SYSTEM TO PROTECT NEIGHBORHOODS FROM APPROACHING FIRES

IEEE Boston Entrepreneurs’ Network eMinute Presentation 10/2/2012

Our Product

IFFC, LLC has developed a system to create a remote controlled, low cost, hose-based system that can be quickly deployed by small trucks to surround a fire threatened neighborhood.
The figure shows homes that have been surrounded by a special fire hose. A truck has driven around the area and deployed the hose from a reel onto the ground. The truck also carries a pump which draws water from any available water source, and pumps the water into the full length of the hose.
At the top of the figure of the neighborhood is an an approaching fire. The blue band along the nearby hose represents a water or foam spray curtain that will slow or stop the flames.
The system concept is protected by issued US patents and pending Canadian patents. Many of them can be applied to other wildfire fighting systems which are under development.

Our Market

Many homes are built close to the wildland-urban-interface. Recent megafires have destroyed many homes. The proposed system can provide low cost protection for homes, and increased safety for the crews assigned to fight the fires. Many insurance companies provide private fire crews to protect the homes of their customers. The system will cost a fraction of the replacement cost of a home. The insurance companies should appreciate the value proposition. Local fire departments may also be customers.

Our Needs
IFFC would appreciate any inquiries, feedback or comments on our concept. Please contact Steve Shoap at 781-521-4687, or email him at steve.shoap@alum.mit.edu. We are also looking for seed capital to initiate our business plan.

MISSION: Lingerieplanet.com is focused on becoming the leading online source of intimate apparel in the world. Thanks to direct relationships with designers and manufacturers worldwide, Lingerieplanet.com offers an enormous selection of products at the best possible value to our customers.
MARKET: The domestic women’s intimate apparel industry stood at $13.7 billion in 2010. Combined with a $4.7 billion men’s market, the undergarment industry accounted for over $18 billion in 2010 sales.

OUR TEAM: Lingerieplanet.com was started by two tech entrepreneurs with extensive experience building high growth, profitable ventures. Their passion for building great businesses has created an energy and enthusiasm that is infused throughout the staff who knows they are part of a special team. Over 12 staff members & contractors are onboard including marketing experts, programmers, SEO gurus, style & fashion experts, and an outstanding customer service staff.

FOUNDERS:
Mark Cullinane: Harvard Business School, Bain Consulting, Digital Media Executive, Decorated ex-Military Officer - www.linkedin.com/in/mfcullinane
Eric Melin: Serial Entrepreneur, SEO Expert, Technologist, eRetail Exec & Former VP of Marketing at Planet, Inc. www.linkedin.com/in/ericmelin

COMPANY:    Lingerie Planet, Inc. ( www.lingerieplanet.com)
Corporate:   Delaware S Corporation Founded: July, 2010. Trademarks Pending.
Industry:     Intimate apparel e-tailer
Financing:    Privately Held. Seed funding via Founders
Seeking:   Interns & Remote/work at home opportunities
Advisors:   Equity compensation available
Investors:   Future investment rounds may include outside investors
Venture Stage:   Prototype with customers, generating traffic & revenue

OPPORTUNITY: Despite the massive size of the intimate apparel industry, very little innovation has occurred around the retail sale of these items. Today, only 3% of women’s intimate apparel is sold online but estimates for 2018 suggest that online sales of retail apparel could account for as much as 35% of this $18 billion dollar market.

CUSTOMERS: Our customer is the sophisticated contemporary woman of any age who have a strong sense of personal style and who demand high-quality classy products delivered with world-class customer care at a great value.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: In nearly every retail sector there has been born a pure play online company that has been disruptive to that market. Amazon originally did it for books; Netflix did originally for movie rentals. More recently, Zappos has taken the shoe industry by storm while Backcountry has built an impressive business catering to outdoor enthusiasts. . . Lingerieplanet.com will be the disruptive force in the women’s intimate apparel market and will accomplish this very simply by maintaining an obsessive focus on delivering value to our customers and will leverage the latest trends in social media and mobile commerce to innovate in an industry that has done very little to innovate or inspire its customers.
