The IEEE-USA Board of Directors has selected Robert Adelson, Chairman of  the IEEE Boston Entrepreneurs’ Network (Boston ENET) as a 2015 recipient of the Professional Achievement Award (for individuals) “For extreme dedication and contributions to the IEEE entrepreneurial community”.

IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.

The IEEE-USA Professional Achievement Award recognizes significant specific contributions, achievements and individual efforts of IEEE members and/or organizations in the development and implementation of professional activities in the United States.

The presentation of this year’s awards to Mr. Adelson will take place at the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada in January 2016 in conjunction with the IEEE-USA Region 4 and Region 6 Joint Meeting.

“I am quite proud to receive this national award not only for myself but also as further recognition of the achievements of Boston ENET from IEEE,” said Rob Adelson, Chairman of the Boston E-NET Board.  “ENET has also grown beyond the community of just engineers and IEEE to a place where tech and life sciences company founders and entrepreneurs of all sorts learn, network, and grow.

“Since our founding in 1991, IEEE Boston Entrepreneur’s Network has grown to where we now organize 19 evening meetings per year, ten in Waltham and nine in Cambridge, for early stage entrepreneurs and investors,” he said.  “Every ENET meeting is designed to be a learning experience in a nurturing environment, during which three or four experts speak on the subject of funding, marketing, management, IP and other subjects of interest to founders and entrepreneurs.  We end each program year in July with a sunset networking cruise of Boston Harbor that typically attracts 200 attendees.

“ENET’s meetings have been instrumental in the formation of many companies and ENET continues to grow and provide an important venue for participants and members to network, talk about their ideas, showcase their startup, and conduct business.”

Robert Adelson, Chairman of ENET since 2009 and member of the ENET board since 2002, is a business and tax attorney and a partner in Boston law firm Engel & Schultz LLP.  He represents startup and early stage companies and also executives and consultants.  In addition to his work as Boston ENET Chairman,  Adelson has for the past 13 years organized ENET's annual cruise of Boston Harbor and also typically organizes and moderates 3 or 4 ENET meetings this years.  Two recent meetings he has organized are "Innovative Ways to Bootstrap your Early Stage company" and "Product Development for Life Science and Tech Startups".
